Can we get cochlear implant in both ears simultaneously for our child?

Yes, Cochlear implant can be done in both ears simultaneously. Actually it is better as the patient will get to hear from both the ears, which is better in noisy surroundings and in assessing the direction from where the sound is coming. This does not mean that getting the surgery done in one ear is of no use. The patient can hear and develop speech with one ear also which is of great benefit to the patient. If the finances is not an issue then one should opt for surgery in both the ears.
