Do I have to get the ear tubes removed from my child’s ear?

The ear tubes are inserted so that the middle ear gets ventilated and the pressure in the middle ear gets equated with the environment. This helps the ear drum to come back to the normal position and the impending retraction and further complications are prevented. Depending on the situation different types of tubes are used like short-term, medium term or long-term tubes. These tubes come out on their own and there is no need to get it removed unless indicated. In certain situations like if there is persistent discharging ear after inserting the tubes or tube has not come out and is in there for much long time then there may be a need to remove theses tubes.
