Will my hearing improve immediately after the surgery?

It will depend on the type of the surgery and whether the surgery is being done under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. If the surgery is stapedotomy, which means it is for the treatment of the fixed stapes bone, then the hearing improvement will be evident on the operation table as this surgery is generally done after making the ear numb and not under general anesthesia.

In case of tympanoplasty (making of new ear drum and improving the hearing bones), the result of hearing can be judged on the operation table if the surgery is being done by infiltrating the local anesthesia and if it is done under general anesthesia then it will be evident once the healing has taken place that means after 5-6 weeks. In case of mastoidectomy it takes longer time to final yield the hearing status.
